- Derrycassin Woods is a lovely forested walk on a former estate in North Longford. Located on the shores of Lough Gowna, near Bunlahy, there are three recommended routes to suit all fitness levels, The Nature Trail (1.5km), the Walled Garden Walk(1.5km), and the Main Avenue Walk(3.25km). The entrance is to the right of Mullinalaghta football pitch.
- Newcastle Woods Walk is a lovely location for walks near Ballymahon, on part of the old Newcastle House estate, now managed by Coillte as a commercial forest. Two walks start at Newcastle Bridge (car park is located here), the Access for All Route (400m) and the River Inny Walk (3km). The starting point for the Wandering Walk (2km) and the Church Walk (5km) is about 500m away on the same side of the road.
- There are several lovely walks around Newtowncashel, much of this area is protected due to its unique ecosystem.
- The Mall in Longford is a popular location for family walks; it has a playground, and adventure equipment dotted around the park.
- The Royal Canal Walk, the entrance is a little hidden beside the town railway bridge, follow the route for 2.8km to Churchland bridge and return via the opposite bank to the starting point.
- Ballinamuck Walks is a series of four walks in the area around historic and scenic Ballinamuck, taking you through the areas most interesting historic and landscape features.
- Commons North Woodland Walk is a recently developed path through forestry to the south of Lanesborough near an old lime quarry.
- And how could I forget, you can see it from everywhere in the county, a bracing walk up Corn Hill.
